LONGTIME COPYWRITER. SOMETIMES FLORIST. CONSTANT STORYTELLER.
For as long as I can remember, I've loved stories. Hearing them, reading them, writing them. Even as a wiry little Janessa, watching my brothers play Super Mario Brothers, (of course they'd never let me play) I was more concerned with the back story than anything else. WHY did Bowser shackle Princess Peach in the castle in the first place?!? We'll never know...
But I digress. At some point in early adulthood I realized that my favorite stories to tell are actually other people's stories. When they couldn't find the words, I somehow always could. And so, a career as a professional copywriter was born.
In 2011, after a decade in writing, I took a hard detour to tell my own story: I opened a sweet flower shop on a cute street corner, and built it into a beautiful brand that people loved. I made a new storytelling career - this time using petals and stems, tape and wire, instead of words. Weddings were my bread & butter.
It didn't take me long to realize that wedding floral design is merely another form of branding: telling a couple's love story visually, carrying it through from corsage to cake.
Now, armed with the extra empathy and insight one can only glean from being a business owner, I am back in the world of words, eager for new brand voices to try, and new stories to tell.
